Jaipur: The Chiranjeevi health insurance scheme website is showing that the coverage of the scheme is up to Rs 5 lakh. It was Rs 25 lakh during the previous Gehlot government. This could be an indication that the government taking measures to replace Chiranjeevi with Centre’s Ayushman Bharat scheme by expanding it.
Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on several platforms has clearly announced that the state government will promote Union government’s Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance Scheme (ABHIS) and it will be expanded in the state.
Gajendra Singh Khinvsar on Saturday issued directions to the officials after taking charge as health minister to ensure people of the state get proper benefit of ‘world’s largest’ health schemes Ayushman Bharat Yojana, PM- Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), Ayushman Bhava Abhiyan.
The private hospitals are confused over the future of Chiranjeevi scheme as they have not received any communication from the government for reducing the coverage amount. “A lot of private hospitals have stopped Chiranjeevi scheme as they are confused if it will continue or be replaced by other health insurance scheme. We have not received any communication on it from the state government yet,” said private hospitals and nursing homes society (PHNHS) president Dr Vijay Kapoor.
Dr Kapoor said that since the health minister has taken charge now, a delegation of doctors will hold a meeting on this issue and other related issues.
